Disappointing News

I have disappointing news. Amazon has cancelled my status as an Amazon Affiliate/Associate because I have not had any “qualifying” sales in the first 6 months as an affiliate. I actually had 4 sales, but they were from family, and don’t count.
I will attempt to find another way to monetize this website and blog while I work to build up enough of a following to attract people who will go through my links to get to Amazon.com, then make their purchases. For the time being, all Amazon ads will be removed from my website and blog.
Thank you for following my site.

  1. That’s too bad! I just added an Amazon affiliate account to my blog. I’m a little nervous about qualifying too…

I made the mistake of applying and getting approved before I moved this domain name away from WordPress.com. It took almost 4 months to get them to release the name. That was most of my 6-month trial period gone before I got started. The woman I spoke with was very nice, and said I could re-apply at any time, but recommended I wait until this site is getting more traffic. That’s exactly what I plan to do, but in the meantime, I will monetize it in other ways — not sure just what at this time. If you have sent gifts to friends or family members, you may want to remove the names and addresses from your Amazon address book. If I had known, I would have done that. Good luck with your site.

So sorry to hear of your Amazon cancellation! I will take this as a reminder to order from fellow bloggers more frequently, rather than directly from Amazon, so as to help them out. I have always done so but it is something we need to remind everyone of on occasion.

Thanks, Ruth. I have been ordering through the sites of my blogger friends, but so far none have used my site. Oh, well, I’ll try again in the future. Merry Christmas to you.

    That is disappointing.

I get click throughs, but have not made a sale this month. I try to hint to my friends occasionally to click through if they are going to buy something.

Sorry to hear the bad news. But there are so many more affiliates out there. You can try Share-a-Sale or Rakuten Linkshare. I really like Linkshare. I wish you the best of luck 🙂

Thanks, Sam. I plan to try some of those after the holidays. I’ve looked at Linkshare, and I like it, too. Thanks for the recommendation. Merry Christmas.
